did you have an older version of GPG Suite installed before?
If so, please run the uninstaller first which is included in the
downloaded disk image and only after run the installer.

Future versions of GPG Suite have a fix for this problem.

Sorry for the scary message and inconvenience.

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/333717272014-06-13T01:57:16Z2014-06-13T01:57:16ZPGPplugin plugin error message when launching Mail.app

I did, but it was on an old laptop I owned over two years ago.
My current laptop has been restored from a backup of a laptop that
was restored from a backup of that laptop, though. Perhaps that's
messed something up along the way?

Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't seem to work properly. I'm
not sure what should be happening anymore.

85c0173atag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/333717272014-06-14T01:53:58Z2014-06-14T01:53:59ZPGPplugin plugin error message when launching Mail.app

Have OS 10.9.3 mail.app 7.3. See attachment for error

I think you are solved but have another plugin called "PGPmail"
which is not our plugin.

So you should be setup correctly now.

Luke was referring to the pinentry error messages which now no
longer should appear.

Let me know if you have any further questions. If you are new to
this, I suggest taking a look at <a href=

Getting Started Tutorial.

All the best, steve

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/333717272014-06-14T14:53:22Z2014-06-14T14:53:22ZPGPplugin plugin error message when launching Mail.app

I think it is working but still get “incompatible
plug-in” message when I first launch mail.app?

I’m doing testing, now. Seems to be doing what the
tutorial says it should. I can send a encrypted signed message to
one of my other addresses. Thank you.

Now I’m trying to 1) use keyserver, 2) test that message
and attachments are REALLY encrypted.

Thanks again.

P.S. That’s some email address you have.

Thank you.

85c0173atag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/333717272014-06-19T22:44:42Z2014-06-19T22:44:42ZPGPplugin plugin error message when launching Mail.app

85c0173a: could you please download and install our latest
nightly
build and see if the problem persists. Again, make sure to
first run the uninstaller that comes with the .dmg file.

You can find sig and SHA1 on the GPGTools Nightlies page.

Chuck: You are seeing an incompatible plug-in error message for
a plugin, which we do not maintain or are affiliated with in any
way. If you want to remove that plugin:

shut down mail.app

open finder

navigate to /Library/Mail/Bundles or
~/Library/Mail/Bundles

move the PGP plugin to your desktop

Now you should no longer see that error message.

All the best, steve

Disclaimer: This is a development version which has not been
thoroughly tested yet - bugs or crashes are to be expected. Thanks
for helping us test.

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/333717272014-06-21T19:59:21Z2014-06-21T19:59:21ZPGPplugin plugin error message when launching Mail.app

Things seem to work. Got rid of PGPplugin message and new
uninstall then install worked.

Only puzzle is after backup of .gnupg using unix command both
.gnupg and my backup copy the private key sub folder has no files
in it. Is that correct? I have private keys as I was able to
send/receive an encrypted email message. I would think there would
be a couple of files in the private keys sub directory.

Now I’m trying to convince myself that the encrypted
message I sent to myself really was/is encrypted. By using the Mac
mail app “view/message/raw source” I see what looks
like the encrypted message as done by open source PGP
algorithm.

BTW: This is just a exercise to just see if i can send encrypted
email messages. At some point shortly I’ll turn encryption
off. I was never able to use the Mac Mail app directly to send
encrypted messages. With your GPG I am able too. This is all
triggered by the NSA revelations.

PS: I do intend to send a donation, as what you are doing is
good work and very important.

when you open GPG Keychain Access and look at the type column,
do you see any sec/pub type keys?

If so, that means your sec keys are there. If not we need to
investigate what went wrong.

So now Mail.app with GPGMail is working as expected? Are you
able to send encrypted mails to your self and decrypt them? To see
that info, make sure to "show details" which otherwise hides that
important info.

All the best,
steve

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/333717272014-06-22T19:25:48Z2014-06-22T19:25:48ZPGPplugin plugin error message when launching Mail.app

Yes there are 3 entries for type sec/pup.

Now, while I was doing recommended backup of ~/.gnupg i noticed
that doing “ls -al” on the subfolder
“private-keys-v1.d” there were no files listed. I would
have thought there might be 3 files for my 3 “sec/pub”
entries. Maybe something is hidden of I just don’t understand
what the “private-keys-v1.d” directory is all
about?
